I 'm very confused trying to understand this whole area of the national debt. According to the Web site directory of the U.S. treasury, our national debt is 10 trillion. According to the CIA World Factbook, our foreign debt is 12 trillion. Does the debt is included in the national debt? Is it the other way around? Or are they totally separate?

In 2000, while working a good job, paying my bills, rent, credit cards, student loans, etc …, and doing so with my principal debt, and I think poor circumstances facing these circumstances, I ended up a stones throw away from being homeless, (it was for 6 MOS.) Now after six years of fighting back to a good job with a living wage, benefits, retirement, ect …, I want to, need, pay off and what do I rebuild my credit. I obviously trials, my student loan is in default, and all my past debts are in collections. Now that I have the means to pay, how best to maintain and manage my finances without jeapordizing the status quo, while beginning to pay off my last debt? And just how to start paying off my last debt? Where to start? And with whom?
