Does anyone know of a legitimate debt relief company?
Natalie asked:
And is it a bad thing to use one??? I mean I just can’t get my head above water and they sound like they can help, but it makes me nervous, does anyone have any experience in dealing with this sort of thing?

I think my mom is using Debt Managment.. And she’s got a few of hers paid off so far.. They all will be paid off by October.. They charge you a fee everymonth.. But I think it’s worth it.

THere is no such thing…..
If you still think that there is, be sure to go to to see what others have said about credit repair companies.

The only one that I know that is truly ligitamate is Consumer Credit Counseling. Using them can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you might need later. Some places don’t like seeing them listed on your credit report and others are okay with it. I think that the best thing they will do is try to get lower interest rates on your credit cards.

The FTC has a website that maintains that you are flushing good money after bad down the toilet. Anyone who uses this type of service (a contradiction of terms) is avoiding their responsibility as well as going under an assumption that doesn’t exist.

The best debt relief I’ve seen is to read “The Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey.
