Hi,
I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and improve my credit score. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58%.It's legitimate. I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

An attorney really is the better way to go, just not the kind your friend is suggesting.

While you are waiting for the credit consolidation to do something, it is possible that your accounts will go into default and you can be sued.

A good consumer credit attorney will be able to negotiate with your creditors, at a reasonable cost. Credit consolidation companies charge huge upfront fees, require you to pay them hundreds of dollars each month, and then take a % of any money they save you.

If you request validation for all negative items, chances are they'll all come back verified. If you're lucky, one or two might come off. There's nothing to loose though in trying to this...the worst that can happen is that the items come back validated. You don't have to pay anyone to do this for you. You can do it yourself for free. Simply send (one at a time) a request for each negative item on your credit report and state:

Per the Fair Debt Collection practices act, I am requesting validation of this debt.

I hope you realize that this firm that you hired is probably withholding payments to your creditors.....They deliberately let your accounts default so that they can negotiate settlements with your creditors. If your credit is not already damaged, you can rest assured that it will be ruined after this process is over.

Also, your creditors are under no obligation whatsoever to accept settlements from this or any other firm....Their response to a settlement offer might be to turn around an take you to court.

This does NOT delete your debt. This removes/changes the status reported on your credit reports. After that it is entirely up to you wether or not you pay it is an integrity thing from that point. If you are interested in cleaning your credit I can refer you to the best I've met. E-mail me for further questions.
