Here is what I read from the article in my resource box. Check it out!

"If one doesn’t consult a debt consolidation managing company, then paying all the creditors and managing the monthly household budget at the same time would be a very tedious and difficult process. To help such debt-burdened people, many free debt consolidation schemes are available today with many finance institutions and other organizations....."

The article might be helpful

Good Luck!!

Consumer credit counseling or debt management programs are not for everyone. They most benefit people that are on the verge of bankruptcy or losing ground against interest rates that the credit card companies are not willing to negotiate.

You need to make sure that the company that you are dealing with is registered and has a clear record with the BBB. Make sure that they have an accredited staff, and how long they have been in business. Unfortunately, there are many companies that are considered fly by night, and give the industry a bad name. There are a few that are legitimate, and will go through the process of counseling you on your budget before enrolling you onto a program.

First, you need to evaluate your situation. Have you made a budget for yourself, and tried to stick with it? Have you asked your credit card companies if they can work with you as far as interest rates, and or repayment plans. If you have make sure that you do your homework and research potential companies.

Good luck, and don't rush into a company just because you really need help, without knowing everything that can affect you.

I've never used a non-profit company, I used a bank to consolidate my student loans. Definitely the best thing to do to get a lower interest rate.

Before turning to debt consolidation, which can be great for some people and just lead to more debt for others try the two links below. PS-we chose snowballing over consolidation and have reduced our debts by over $7000.00 in just 5 mos.

I did and it ruin my credit. All my credit card companies cancelled their credit cards and I had to re-start my credit history back over - it was a hassle and a mess. Good luck!@

My sister in law did and they got rid of 50% of her debt but her credit rating sucked anyway - she wanted to avoid bankrupcy.

I enrolled in one years ago, and it was the BEST thing I ever did! At the time, it was called Genus Credit Management. They negotiated lower payments and I am almost done paying off my last card (I had a lot of debt!). It is such a relief not to have that hanging over my head. I recommend doing it, it's great to be debt-free! Here's their website:
