How do I get a creditor to stop calling me 10 to 15 times a day? I’ve already told them how much and when I
makamaepohaku asked:
can pay. They insist that untill it is brought up to date they must keep calling (company policy). Is their anything I can do on my own? I don’t want to go to one of those “debt relief” agencies. They charge you and arm and a leg. Any sugestions?

You can stop a debt collector from contacting you by writing a letter to the collector telling them to stop. Once the collector receives your letter, they may not contact you again except to say there will be no further contact or to notify you that the debt collector or the creditor intends to take some specific action. Please note, however, that sending such a letter to a collector does not make the debt go away if you actually owe it. You could still be sued by the debt collector or your original creditor.

Sure. Ten or fifteen calls a day amounts to harassment and you can lay a complaint with the police department or go to a judge to get a ‘cease and desist’ order.

You can tell creditors to stop calling you at work or at home and they must stop. At that point, they may sue you. Your choice.

Call Consumer Credit Counciling, a no fee, non profit agency. When they assist you, the calls will stop and the interest you’re being charged and late fees will be reduced and /or cleared off.
