Why Why WHY?
That’s it…if i don’t get this out of me i’m going to explode. And my apologies to all other users who this message does not apply to - just give me a pass on this one will you?
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY USELESS ANSWERS?
USELESS - as in “While your asking a legitimate question, let me just butt in and answer you with a sentance that has absolutely nothing to do with your question - go me!! Your stupid you ______(fill in the blank)”
[I exclude funny answers....but then again not many answers have enough Wit to be considered as such.]
You know a few weeks ago i was listening to the radio about poverty and debt relief - person calls in and starts talking about Jesus…and more Jesus…and more Jesus…
Couple days ago a US diplomat talking said “our thoughts and prayers go out to the Burmese monks” only to get a phone call from an Atheist about how its illogical to pray..
Both respondents of course, backed away from offering up comment/solution to the actual question
being asked. “Oh, its not my place to say.” “Oh, i certinaly do not have a solution to what’s going on in Burma - i didn’t know you meant to say “Thoughts and Prayers” as a turn of Phrase.”
WHAT THE @#$*&@#$@?
Frankly - regardless of the differences of both people’s perspectives, their attitudes/demeanor are the same.
“I’m a Talking Head - here let me talk about the only way i know how to engage reality.”
Is it so hard really, just to answer someone else’s question without drifting off into an aside?

Princess - everyones got a right to an opinion. (and no your not ticking me off..)
But come on people - man/woman walks into the forum with a legitimate question (not one of those confrontational ones - those folks are asking for a fight)..
If you have something of worth to say - fine. If not, your just wating breathe.

I am sorry that people are ticking you off. If I do than I do not mean to. That is human nature because humans are inherently evil. Sorry about it, but I have been trying to fix myself, and for everyone else first I have to fix myself before I can fix anyone else!

It’s in the nature of things that when you have a bunch of strangers chiming in you are going to have to separate a lot of chaff from just a bit of wheat.
And a decent answer that’s a bit off-topic is okay, too. After all, most of us are really just here to think a bit. And there’s nothing wrong with widening the subject.
But don’t think I’m unsympathetic; some of the garbage that pops up is pretty aggravating, isn’t it?

That’s the problem nowadays. People seem to put too much emphasis on their religion (or lack of it) and forget what they were supposed to answer.
Another good example of this is this very category. When a person asks a question here, they’d have to specify who it goes to (e.g. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheists) otherwise their questions will get filled with erroneous and insulting answers.

You are right. Bu it takes two for anything to happen like this. In both cases don’t you feel it would be the moderator’s case to make the call and tell the caller, you are off topic.
But then again we give consideration and we are only human.
You did bring up a legitimate complaint. I’m sure you may have felt a collective breath of relief going out here now.

Take a good long hard look at the “Talking Heads” on your own thread. One even has a couple thumbs up - most likely from a bunch of folks who like Trolling around.
Short answer: People like messing with other people (if they are trolling).
Long answer: People have an over inflated sense of what they know. Or believe that life can be reduced to one single variable
Both can be reduced to one thing - as you said Useless.
Thankfully, i’ll wager agianst you that the majority of humanity isn’t like that at all.

Why? Because it’s fun to get a rise out of people. I try not to do it, but there are times that it’s just fun. Evil, sadistic but fun. I am a Christian, I should know better. I do know better.
